Keeping up with the "Bloggers"!

I love to blog, I might not be the best writer or have tons of readers but I do it and enjoy it!! It makes me happy so really that is all that matter right?? You would think so but sometimes I get a little "keeping up with the Joneses" attitude. This is the one attitude in my daily life I am learning to let go of and remind  myself everything we do have is a blessing and is more than enough! So why am I have an issue with it in the blogging world? I think the main problem is I wonder how on earth does everyone post so much and where does the time come from? I only have one child and blogging seems to take a few hours a morning for me. Some days are great and I can get ahead with a couple of post. Other days I get very very far behind, which turn into weeks of no blogging. I try very hard to avoid this but it just seems to happen once a quarter or so.

I have a plan now to "keep up with the bloggers" that hopefully will work for me!

My mother bought me this great little planner last week to keep up with my schedule. I love having a smart phone but just prefer to have my schedule down in writing. It probably has something to do with having a required planner during school. It just works for me. So I am taking one element that works well and adding a new little piece to it. I am going to start writing down each week what I want to post that day.

This new method works so well for me for so many reasons:

  • I no longer sit down at the computer wondering what to post about
  • If I have an idea when I am out and about, I can just write it down on a day that is open! I no longer forget ideas!
  • Having it on my planner, makes me feel like I have to do it!

So hopefully in the future the long weeks of no blogging will be a thing of the past for me!! You would think starting my third year of blogging I would be a little more on the ball but hey its never to late to start!!

BBQ Hot Ham and Cheese Panini!

A few years ago for Christmas, I bought B a panini maker. B is in love with all things in the panini. Its the one thing he can actually cook for himself.  Most of the time he concocts a fajita type wrap but sometimes he will throw on a quesadilla and I get a night off from cooking. All I have to do is make sure that we have some chicken cut up in the fridge and he is good to go. It truly was a great purchase we both love it!!

I finally decided it was time to make a recipe on the panini grill each week and to start off, I want to actually make paninis!! Each week I am going to try to incorporate a panini or recipe made on the panini into my menu planning! I might as well showcase one of our favorite things in the kitchen!!

My first recipe wasn't something I thought too much about. I think I saw a hot ham and cheese sandwich at a little restaurant in Myrtle Beach and knew I wanted to try it when we got home! My mom ran to the store for me and got us some ingredients to whip up a quick and easy meal. It worked out great for us cause I wasn't feeling too great that night, so it was fast and I thought it tasted great! Next time I think I would add some grilled purple onions!

BBQ Hot Ham and Cheese Panini Grill

  • Ham
  • Cheese (I used pepperjack and B used american)
  • Nice Hard Bread
  • BBQ Sauce

Slice your bread in half. (we used ciabatta squares) place ham and cheese on piece of bread. Spread a little BBQ sauce on the other piece. Place sandwiches pieces together and stick on the panini grill. Our grill doesn't have settings so I just watch till it looks to be toasted and the cheese is melted. Take off the grill, let cool a bit and enjoy! I think this recipe takes all of 2 minutes!

Ready for Fall!!

Once I hear the school bus crusing through my neighborhood my mind seems to just wander to fall. Fall is by far my favorite season of the year. I love going to all the fall festivals around town, looking at the beautiful leaves turning and enjoying a crisp night around a bonfire. I think the fall colors just talk to my soul and I feel an overwhelming need to enjoy the season!!

Its still a bit warm here in KC and we can have 100 degree weather in October, so its still just dreaming in my head.  I have some time to go to really be in fall mode but I am in the mood to plan. I am planning the days we will travel around the city to enjoy fall festivals, planning on new projects and challenging myself to some self goals! Since using my organization chart, and getting much of it done, I decided it would be a good idea to make a fall list. This doesnt encompass everything I want to do but its the ones that have been on my mind! Hopefully it will help me keep track of the ideas running around in my head!

Do you have any project planned for fall? I would love to hear about them!
